Gene

Eogt

Species
Drosophila melanogaster
Symbol
Eogt
Name
EGF-domain O-GlcNAc transferase
Synonyms
  • CG9867
  • EGF-domain specific O-GlcNAc transferase
Biotype
protein coding gene
Automated Description
Enables protein O-acetylglucosaminyltransferase activity. Involved in larval chitin-based cuticle development and protein O-GlcNAcylation via threonine. Located in endoplasmic reticulum lumen. Is expressed in embryonic/larval garland cell; garland cell primordium; and organism. Human ortholog(s) of this gene implicated in Adams-Oliver syndrome. Orthologous to human EOGT (EGF domain specific O-linked N-acetylglucosamine transferase).
FB Description
EGF-domain O-GlcNAc transferase (Eogt) encodes a protein that localizes to the lumen of the endoplasmic reticulum and transfers beta-N-acetylglucosamine (GlcNAc) to extracelluar epidermal growth factor-like domains independently of the product of sxc. The product of Eogt mediates cell adhesion mediated by the product of dpy.
