Gene

csk-1

Species
Caenorhabditis elegans
Symbol
csk-1
Name
C-terminal Src Kinase 1
Synonyms
  • CELE_Y48G1C.2
  • Y48G1C.2
Biotype
protein coding gene
Automated Description
Enables protein tyrosine kinase activity. Involved in several processes, including larval feeding behavior; nematode larval development; and nematode pharyngeal pumping. Located in cell-cell junction and plasma membrane. Is expressed in several structures, including anus; head neurons; hermaphrodite somatic gonadal cell; pharyngeal muscle cell; and vulval cell. Orthologous to several human genes including CSK (C-terminal Src kinase).
WB Description
csk-1 encodes an ortholog of C-terminal Src kinase (Csk) that probablyinhibits SRC-like tyrosine kinases in pharyngeal muscle cells; theC-terminal tyrosines of the SRC-like kinases SRC-2/KIN-22 and SRC-1 areevolutionarily conserved, and phosphorylated by CSK-1, which inhibitsSRC-2/KIN-22 and SRC-1 in vivo; csk-1 is co-expressed with src-2/kin-22 and src-1 inpharyngeal procorpus and metacorpus; csk-1(RNAi) animals are grosslynormal, but overexpression of csk-1 induces an abnormal pharyngealphenotype.
