WB Description
ppfr-1 encodes a protein phosphatase regulatory subunit; PPFR-1 functions as a regulatory subunit of a protein phosphatase 4 complex that regulates the phosphorylation status, and activity of, the MEI-1/katanin microtubule severing activity during meiosis; ppfr-1(RNAi) in wild-type animals results in fertility defects in F1 hermaphrodites, who exhibit a 90-95% decrease in the total number of eggs laid; PPFR-1 physically interacts with MEL-26, a substrate recognition subunit for the CUL-3 E3 ubiquitin ligase that also physically interacts with MEI-1; PPFR-1 is localized to the cytoplasm.
