The transgenic construct included a recombined Igh variable region encoding the heavy chain of the rat anti-nerve growth factor monoclonal antibody, alphaD11. The constant region of the human immunoglobulin heavy region (IGH@) was included downstream to enable the detection of the transgenic antibodies against murine immunoglobulins. The early region promoter (-601 to -16) of human CMV reportedly drove expression of the transgene in non-neuronal tissures as well as in neuronal tissues including the cortex, hippocampus, thalamus, spinal cord, retina, olfactory bulb, and cerebellum. Line D has lower transgene expression than line C.
