The lacZ and neomycin resistance genes containing gene trap vector inserted into intron 2 of the host gene. Transcrips from this allele will code for a fusion protein of the first 282 amino-acids of the host gene (which excludes the functional phosphatase domain), followed by beta-galactosidase and neo. Immunoblots show that a small amount of the wildtype L- and S-variants of the host gene peptides are still produced, possibly owing to splicing out of trap-containing intron 2.
