The 7.2kb kb Tg4-42 transgene is designed with the Thy1 promoter driving expression of human Abeta 4-42 fused to a murine thyrotropin releasing hormone signal peptide. Transgenic mice express an N-truncated Abeta 4-42< (amino acids 4-42), a peptide shown to enhance Abeta aggregation in the brains of Alzheimer's disease (AD) patients. Founder line 2 has the highest expression of the transgene and sontains more than 20 copies in head-to-tail orientation, with the last transgene in reverse orientation.
