Gene

Sgf11

Species
Drosophila melanogaster
Symbol
Sgf11
Name
SAGA associated factor 11kDa
Synonyms
  • Atxn7L3
  • CG13379
Biotype
protein coding gene
Automated Description
Involved in chromatin organization and positive regulation of DNA-templated transcription. Located in nucleus. Part of DUBm complex and SAGA complex. Orthologous to human ATXN7L3 (ataxin 7 like 3).
FB Description
SAGA associated factor 11kDa (Sgf11) encodes a component of the highly conserved Spt-Ada-Gcn5 Acetyltransferase (SAGA) chromatin modifying complex. This complex is responsible for acetylation of histones and deubiquitination of the product of His2B at active promoters. The product of Sgf11 is a component of the deubiquitinase module, interacts with the non-stop deubiquitinase, and is essential for non-stop enzymatic activity in vitro.
