pickpocket 19 (ppk19) encodes a predicted member of the Degenerin/Epithelial Sodium Channel family protein. In the larval stage, it is expressed in the terminal organ for salt taste and tracheal cells for liquid clearance. In the adult stage it functions in salt taste likely through its expression in the chemical-sensing epithelia in the leg segment and wing blade.
