Symbol
BubR1
Name
Bub1-related kinase
Synonyms
  • 31/13
  • BcDNA:LD23835
Biotype
protein coding gene
Automated Description
Predicted to enable protein kinase activity. Involved in several processes, including chromosome organization; heterochromatin formation; and regulation of mitotic cell cycle phase transition. Located in cytoplasm and kinetochore. Is expressed in central brain primordium; larval ventral nerve cord; organism; and ventral nerve cord primordium. Human ortholog(s) of this gene implicated in colorectal cancer and primary autosomal recessive microcephaly. Orthologous to human BUB1 (BUB1 mitotic checkpoint serine/threonine kinase).
FB Description
Bub1-related kinase (BubR1) encodes a motif-rich protein with a C-terminal serine-threonine kinase domain. During prometaphase and metaphase, it plays important roles in spindle assembly checkpoint signalling, stabilization of kinetochore-microtuble attachments and chromosome alignment. It is also essential to maintain sister-chromatid cohesion during meiotic progression and for normal maintenance of Synaptonemal Complex in females.
