Species
Homo sapiens
Symbol
FGL2
Name
fibrinogen like 2
Synonyms
  • fibrinogen-like 2
  • fibrinogen-like protein 2
Biotype
protein coding gene
Automated Description
Predicted to enable peptidase activator activity. Predicted to be involved in blood coagulation. Predicted to act upstream of or within several processes, including T cell activation via T cell receptor contact with antigen bound to MHC molecule on antigen presenting cell; negative regulation of antigen processing and presentation; and negative regulation of memory T cell differentiation. Located in collagen-containing extracellular matrix and extracellular exosome.
RGD Description
The protein encoded by this gene is a secreted protein that is similar to the beta- and gamma-chains of fibrinogen. The carboxyl-terminus of the encoded protein consists of the fibrinogen-related domains (FRED). The encoded protein forms a tetrameric complex which is stabilized by interchain disulfide bonds. This protein may play a role in physiologic functions at mucosal sites. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
