Gene

GUCY1A2

Species
Homo sapiens
Symbol
GUCY1A2
Name
guanylate cyclase 1 soluble subunit alpha 2
Synonyms
  • GC-SA2
  • GCS-alpha-2
Biotype
protein coding gene
Automated Description
Predicted to enable guanylate cyclase activity. Predicted to be involved in cGMP-mediated signaling and response to oxygen levels. Predicted to act upstream of or within positive regulation of nitric oxide mediated signal transduction. Predicted to be located in cytosol. Predicted to be part of guanylate cyclase complex, soluble.
RGD Description
Soluble guanylate cyclases are heterodimeric proteins that catalyze the conversion of GTP to 3',5'-cyclic GMP and pyrophosphate. The protein encoded by this gene is an alpha subunit of this complex and it interacts with a beta subunit to form the guanylate cyclase enzyme, which is activated by nitric oxide. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Jan 2012]
