Acts upstream of or within spermatid development. Located in euchromatin and nucleus. Is expressed in several structures, including alimentary system; brain; genitourinary system; integumental system; and sensory organ. Orthologous to human AFF4 (ALF transcription elongation factor 4).
MGI Description
PHENOTYPE: Homozygous null mice display embryonic and neonatal lethality with incomplete penetrance, abnormal respiration, and shrunken alveoli. Surviving males are infertile with azoospermia and arrest of spermatogenesis but, do not develop hematological abnormalities. [provided by MGI curators]
