Gene

Gpbar1

Species
Mus musculus
Symbol
Gpbar1
Name
G protein-coupled bile acid receptor 1
Synonyms
  • BG37
  • GPR131
Biotype
protein coding gene
Automated Description
Predicted to enable G protein-coupled bile acid receptor activity. Involved in regulation of bicellular tight junction assembly. Predicted to be located in cytoplasm. Predicted to be part of receptor complex. Predicted to be active in plasma membrane. Is expressed in gut and male reproductive gland or organ. Orthologous to human GPBAR1 (G protein-coupled bile acid receptor 1).
MGI Description
PHENOTYPE: Mutations in this gene result in abnormal cholesterol, bile, and insulin homeostasis. Mice homozygous for a conditional allele activated in adipose tissue are resistant to the improvements in adipose tissue thermogenesis that occur in the diet-induced obesity model of intestine-specific Hif1a knockout.
