Gene

NOP14

Species
Saccharomyces cerevisiae
Symbol
NOP14
Name
NucleOlar Protein
Synonyms
  • UTP2
  • YDL148C
Biotype
protein coding gene
Automated Description
Enables U3 snoRNA binding activity. Involved in endonucleolytic cleavage in 5'-ETS of tricistronic rRNA transcript (SSU-rRNA, 5.8S rRNA, LSU-rRNA); endonucleolytic cleavage in ITS1 to separate SSU-rRNA from 5.8S rRNA and LSU-rRNA from tricistronic rRNA transcript (SSU-rRNA, 5.8S rRNA, LSU-rRNA); and endonucleolytic cleavage to generate mature 5'-end of SSU-rRNA from (SSU-rRNA, 5.8S rRNA, LSU-rRNA). Located in nucleolus. Part of Noc4p-Nop14p complex and small-subunit processome. Used to study oligohydramnios. Orthologous to human NOP14 (NOP14 nucleolar protein).
SGD Description
Nucleolar protein; forms a complex with Noc4p that mediates maturation and nuclear export of 40S ribosomal subunits; also present in the small subunit processome complex, which is required for processing of pre-18S rRNA
