WB Description
srgp-1 encodes the ortholog of the mammalian srGAP proteins, which are downstream effectors of the Slit-Robo neuronal guidance pathway and act as negative regulators of neuronal migration; srgp-1 positively regulates cell-cell adhesion during embryonic development and is required along with catenins, hmp-1 and hmp-2 for viability; srgp-1 also functions in engulfing cells to negatively regulate engulfment of apoptotic cells; SRGP-1 binds to and enhances CED-10/RAC GTPase activity via its GAP domain; SRGP-1 is expressed in head and tail neurons, pharynx and the spermatheca and localizes to adherens junctions.
